It’s almost June! SCHOOL’S OUT! Just kidding, we aren’t in school anymore (though we would give just about anything for a three month-long summer vacation right now). The heat in Los Angeles has already reached oppressive heights, and sleeping on a sofa all day in the air conditioning sounds like an absolute dream. Nothing satisfies on a hot summer day quite like the cold, melty treats of our youth: POPSICLES. Just looking at this calendar is cooling us down. We hope it does the same for you!

This month Eva is all about Godzilla, and created a blue drink for him certain to recharge him so he can go back to selectively knocking down cities. For the full post, head over to Fanboy Comics, and get the recipe here.

Did you see the new Godzilla? Do you think he’d like our radioactive drink for a recharge?

Strawberry season has us pulling out all our favorite strawberry recipes, both sweet and savory. It’s the perfect time to put berries on absolutely everything!

Strawberry Spinach Couscous | Garlic, My Soul

We made this couscous dish with strawberries, spinach and caramelized onions for the first time 3 years ago. We were long overdue to try it again, and it held up to the memory!

Strawberry Spinach Couscous | Garlic, My Soul

You can eat this right away while the couscous is still warm, but I recommend chilling it first and eating as a cold side salad on a hot summer day.

Check out the recipe here.

This Memorial Day weekend was wonderful! We celebrated our good friend Mary’s birthday with a delicious funfetti bundt cake, we made scones for a hearty Sunday morning breakfast, and on Monday we enjoyed an all-day picnic in Elysian Park with our friends, testing out our new grill and basking in the sun of one extra day off! We are excited to be heading into a short week with memories of sunshine, Scrabble, and veggie kabobs fresh in our memory. We hope you enjoyed a relaxing weekend are are ready for summer to begin!

Tell us: what did you make for your memorial day picnics?

Happy FIRST free day of THREE glorious days of eating and drinking and being merry. I hope that y’all get to play this weekend, and get to rest up, too. Moderation, my friends.

Here are some things that we think you’d like to cook and bring to your various BBQs and parties, or just make to have around the house.

First off, we love LOVE this chicken dish. It’s easy, it’s delicious, and it well make your party smell divine.

Roasted Chicken + Goat Cheese | Garlic, My Soul

Make this Roasted Chicken on your grill and your friends will all thank you immensely.

Secondly, we know you need a pasta salad or potato salad because OBVIOUSLY that is what you need at a Memorial Day picnic.

Macaroni Salad | Garlic, My Soul

Try Mom’s Macaroni Salad or this Dill & Green Onion Potato Salad, and get happy.

Now, in case you’re wondering what to drink on Memorial Day, check out these Beers of Summer that should point you in the right direction.

And, if you’ve been put in charge of dessert? You should make this delicious chocolate bundt because they travel easily (thank you, bundt pan!) Or, make these lemon-lemon cupcakes because they’re self contained and don’t require plates or even napkins, really! Win/win/win.

We hope that you get to make something awesome to share this weekend!

What are you doing to celebrate the holiday?
