{"id":5355,"date":"2012-03-07T06:30:20","date_gmt":"2012-03-07T14:30:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/?p=5355"},"modified":"2012-03-06T23:03:57","modified_gmt":"2012-03-07T07:03:57","slug":"frying-up-chicken","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/frying-up-chicken\/","title":{"rendered":"Frying up Chicken"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ciao, chickens.<\/p>\n<p>Not so long ago, I picked up this edition of <em>Bon Appetit:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/bonappetit.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5356\" src=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/bonappetit.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"646\" height=\"878\" srcset=\"https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/bonappetit.jpg 646w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/bonappetit-220x300.jpg 220w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/bonappetit-73x100.jpg 73w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 646px) 100vw, 646px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bonappetit.com\/blogsandforums\/blogs\/badaily\/2012\/02\/cook-the-cover-our-5-favorite-2.html\">source<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I believe you know that the only logical thing to do after feasting your eyes on a cover like that is to commit to making that recipe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I will admit, I had my doubts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Mostly around starting a grease fire in my kitchen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I put together a test crew of my closest friends (who I knew would forgive me should things go awry) and heated up a skillet of peanut oil.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The result was actually quite delicious.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bonappetit.com\/blogsandforums\/blogs\/badaily\/2012\/02\/cook-the-cover-our-5-favorite-2.html\">You can find the particulars here,<\/a> which I closely followed, due to having no actual idea how to fry chickens.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This recipe yields a bit of a spicy bird, but if you can stand the heat, I&#8217;d say don&#8217;t skimp on the cayenne. It really kicked things up a notch.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Things I learned: it takes oil awhile to heat up, so be patient.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Do not just turn it all the way up and hope for the best.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Also, fried chicken is the most delicious thing ever.
