Happy Thanksgiving! What is the very first thing that comes to mind when you think about Thanksgiving? Turkey!! Wait\u2026 turkey? That is not vegetarian! What the heck does a vegetarian eat on Thanksgiving? The answer is: so many things.<\/p>\n

This year I will be part of GMS\u2019s fourth annual Los Angeles Thanksgiving, or Friendsgiving, as I have been calling it for the past few days. There are usually anywhere from 17-30 people. There is always more food than 17-30 people can eat. It\u2019s an incredible event.This will be the second year that we have a tofurky as part of dinner, which if you are wondering, is delicious. It looks like a little round turkey, and even comes with rice stuffing inside. I have been tasked with cooking the tofurky for Paul, who doesn\u2019t like turkey, and myself. Tofurky is super low maintenance. It can be found in the freezer section of the grocery store.<\/p>\n

<\/em>When you get your box home, it will include the tofurky in a little ball, with vegetarian gravy. It comes ready to cook. They recommend on the box, and I recommend also, that you cut up some veggies to bake along with the tofurky. I use carrots, broccoli, peppers, and onions, whatever you have left over from anything else you are cooking, along with potatoes, and stick it in the oven for around 2 hours at 300 degrees. The veggies and potatoes will help season your tofurky, and conveniently taste delicious along side it. Done and Done!<\/p>\n

My amazing friends have also agreed to make Thanksgiving vegetarian friendly ever since our first annual Thanksgiving in 2008. This means the stuffing doesn\u2019t get baked inside the turkey. It means there are lots of veggie casseroles. There is salad and lots of potatoes, and lots of bread. There is pie (thank goodness pie is vegetarian). There is cheesecake (yum). There is more than enough food for me to go into a Thanksgiving coma right along with the turkey eaters. I could not possibly be more excited about Thanksgiving this year. The biggest hurdle I have yet to face this year? Going to the grocery store for supplies! Wish me luck!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
