This is mostly because Thanksgiving has become the unofficial holiday of Garlic, My Soul over the last few years, and a GMS Thanksgiving is the best kind.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/turkey.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2757\" title=\"turkey\" src=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/turkey.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"340\" srcset=\"https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/turkey.jpg 640w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/turkey-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/turkey-150x99.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some people like to start Christmas shopping as early as August, but we think that&#8217;s for the birds. However it is not at all unusual for Jennie and me to have Thanksgiving on the brain all year round.<\/p>\n<p>This year we sent out the official invite on October 24. A month of intense planning is pretty standard for us, but we usually try to keep our Thanksgiving excitement under wraps for a few weeks, so as not to frighten anyone with our overzealous approach to holiday planning.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/_External_Import\/jenniepalluzzi.com\/photos\/var\/resizes\/Thanksgiving-2010\/DSC_0550.jpg?m=1290739543\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"340\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Well guess what. Today is the day to get excited, folks. Check out that countdown on the right side of the page. We&#8217;ve only got 2 weeks to go!<\/p>\n<p>The oven schedule is nearly complete.<\/p>\n<p>17 people have RSVP&#8217;d <em>yes<\/em> with 6 <em>maybes<\/em>. So, this year will be a smaller affair.<\/p>\n<p>The gluten-free portion of the menu is set.<\/p>\n<p>The free range turkey has been ordered. 26 pounds, in case you&#8217;re curious.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and did I mention that <strong>I am planning to fly back to Los Angeles for the holiday!!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s right. This Thanksgiving will be our first Garlic, My Soul reunion since we went bi-coastal back in April.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/cuttingturkey.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2758\" title=\"cuttingturkey\" src=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/cuttingturkey.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"383\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/cuttingturkey.jpg 425w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/cuttingturkey-199x300.jpg 199w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/cuttingturkey-99x150.jpg 99w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 383px) 100vw, 383px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When I told Jennie, we had this conversation:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jennie<\/strong>: WHATTTTTTTTTTTTT, shut up<br \/>\n<strong>me<\/strong>: yes<br \/>\n<strong>Jennie<\/strong>: shut up.\u00a0 SHUT UP<br \/>\n<strong>Jennie<\/strong>: WHEN ARE YOU COMINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG<\/p>\n<p>Then she cried. Literally, she cried. And Jeff made fun of us. That&#8217;s just how we roll in the Garlic, My Soul family.<\/p>\n<p>I am so excited you guys. I don&#8217;t even care that I&#8217;ll be flying on the two biggest travel days of the year, sitting in middle seats for all of my flights, and missing the opportunity to earn time and a half at my job by working the day after Thanksgiving. I don&#8217;t care about any of it, because I am SO excited about&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Starting the day at <strong>7:30 AM<\/strong> to get up, get showered, and get our whole cooking operation over to our friend Paul&#8217;s house.<\/p>\n<p>Jennie and me, shoving our <strong>hands inside a giant turkey<\/strong>, our favorite party trick for 4 years running.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Coffee<\/strong> and crossword puzzles, and <a href=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/pre-thanksgiving-prep-hap-house\/\"><strong>Iny&#8217;s Prune Cake<\/strong><\/a>, for the second year in a row.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wine<\/strong> and snacks all day long.<\/p>\n<p>Rubbing the whole turkey in butter 30 minutes before we take it out of the oven. Then, waiting until Jennie isn&#8217;t looking and adding even <strong>MORE butter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Holiday <strong>decorations<\/strong> courtesy of the talented miss <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marycostaphotography.com\/blog\/\">Mary Costa<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Not being able to <strong>finish my plate<\/strong>.
