In the holiday&#8217;s honor, I&#8217;m reposting this Irish Soda Bread that I usually make this time of year (and really, should make more often.) We hope that you found some time in your weekend to have a Guinness or eat some corned beef and cabbage, or that you found a decent piece of soda bread. If you didn&#8217;t, we&#8217;re here to give you another recipe for delicious soda bread &#8211; this year, with currants I actually found at Whole Foods.<\/p>\n<p>Growing up on the east coast, St. Patrick&#8217;s Day usually meant a parade and maybe some delicious food but always we had soda bread (on the holiday and just throughout the year.) I love it, and I stated making it in college. Then, upon moving to California, I found it really hard to find currants (aka tiny raisins). On the east coast, and in the midwest, they are in every grocery store you go to, but in Los Angeles they&#8217;re quite foreign.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/DSC_3825.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-13545\" src=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/DSC_3825-1200x801.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_3825\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" srcset=\"https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/DSC_3825-1200x801.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/DSC_3825-800x534.jpg 800w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/DSC_3825-500x333.jpg 500w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/DSC_3825.jpg 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This soda bread is delicious for breakfast, and should definitely be eaten with a generous amount of butter.<\/p>\n<p>Recipe:<\/p>\n<p>3\u00a0cups\u00a0<strong>all-purpose flour<\/strong><br \/>\n2\/3\u00a0cup <strong>sugar<\/strong><br \/>\n1 tbsp <strong>baking powder<\/strong><br \/>\n1 tsp <strong>baking\u00a0soda<\/strong><br \/>\n1 tsp <strong>kosher salt<\/strong><br \/>\n1 1\/2 cup <strong>currants<\/strong><br \/>\n2 <strong>eggs<\/strong>, beaten<br \/>\n2\u00a0cups\u00a0<strong>buttermilk<\/strong><br \/>\n2 tbsp <strong>melted butter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking\u00a0soda, and salt.<br \/>\n2. Add currants.<br \/>\n3. In a separate bowl, beat eggs, add melted butter and buttermilk, stir.<br \/>\n4. Slowly add to flour mixture. Stir until combined, but don&#8217;t over beat.<br \/>\n5. Put in greased loaf pans.<br \/>\n6. It&#8217;s delicious, it&#8217;s from grass-fed cows, and it&#8217;s a lovely consistency.
