In fact, it&#8217;s hard to pick what I like better about this Valentine&#8217;s Day meal, the steak or these decadent burgundy mushrooms. Actually, I was wrong. It&#8217;s the mushrooms. They&#8217;re divine. But truly, this\u00a0combination is killer, and you should cook it for\u00a0whatever loved one you love most this weekend.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-15844\" src=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_2367-1200x801.jpg\" alt=\"Steak &amp; Burgundy Mushrooms | Garlic, My Soul\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" srcset=\"https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_2367-1200x801.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_2367-800x534.jpg 800w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_2367-500x334.jpg 500w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_2367.jpg 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>First, the steak. If you ask us, the secret to a good steak is a a good marinade. We wanted something tried and true, so we turned to my father&#8217;s basic recipe.<\/p>\n<p>Marinade Ingredients:<\/p>\n<p>4 tbsp <strong>steak sauce<a href=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_2382.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/strong>4 tbsp <strong>worcestershire sauce<\/strong><br \/>\n2 tbsp dried <strong>oregano<\/strong><br \/>\nplenty of <strong>salt &amp; pepper<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Marinate filets for at least one hour, then cook on a grill or on the stovetop in a cast iron skillet. 7 minutes on the first side, and 6 minutes on the second side should cook to about medium.\u00a0Use a meat thermometer to ensure the correct temperature.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-15846\" src=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_2389-1200x802.jpg\" alt=\"Steak &amp; Burgundy Mushrooms | Garlic, My Soul\" width=\"800\" height=\"535\" srcset=\"https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_2389-1200x802.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_2389-800x535.jpg 800w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_2389-500x334.jpg 500w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_2389.jpg 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our steak recipe won&#8217;t disappoint, but to really impress your date, don&#8217;t forget the burgundy mushrooms. They take a little time, but we promise your patience will be rewarded, and they are the perfect thing to occupy you while your steaks marinate!<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<p><strong>button mushrooms<\/strong>, cleaned and stems removed (we recommend 16 &#8211; 24oz)<br \/>\n1 medium <strong>shallot<\/strong>, minced<br \/>\n2 tbsp <strong>olive oil<\/strong><br \/>\n3 tbsp <strong>butter<\/strong><br \/>\n2 cups <strong>red wine<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Directions:<\/p>\n<p>1. Heat olive oil and butter in large frying pan and saute shallots over medium heat for 1-2 minutes until the begin to turn translucent, careful not to let them burn.<br \/>\n2. Add mushrooms in a single layer that covers the bottom of the pan and cook until golden brown on both sides. <em>Note: Some will prefer to accomplish this with frequent stirring, while others prefer a meticulous approach, browning one side then carefully flipping each mushroom cap individually to brown the other side. Take whichever path feels right to you. We don&#8217;t judge at GMS.<\/em><br \/>\n3. Add red wine and reduce heat to medium-low.
