And after seeing this alluring recipe fly around Pinterest recently, my path was clearly chosen.<\/p>\n<p>I usually try to keep myself from attempting to straight recreate fan favorites minus the gluten \u2013 as the results no matter how good are usually disappointing \u2013 but in this case, it simply couldn\u2019t be helped. They just looked too delicious!<\/p>\n<p>Cheddar Bay Biscuits have a deep and abiding place in my soul. In my previous life as a baker I would make cheddar and gluten-filled biscuits drenched in butter from a recipe reportedly to have been stolen from Red Lobster.<\/p>\n<p>Tall tales notwithstanding, they were damn delicious and we (my bakers and I) always had to adjust the recipe to account for biscuits nicked straight from their oven trays by the kitchen staff before dinner was even served.<\/p>\n<p>This new gluten free recipe also spoke to me from a simplicity standpoint. It is entirely comprised of tapioca flour \u2013 I\u2019ve grown a little tired of gluten free flour mixes of late \u2013 and is so delicious in its own right, that it gives those gluten-free-ers among us reason to hope they will live to eat another Cheddar Bay.<\/p>\n<p>Good work, Pinterest.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/DSC_4543.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-14904\" src=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/DSC_4543-1200x800.jpg\" alt=\"Gluten Free Cheddar Bay Biscuits | Garlic, My Soul\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/DSC_4543-1200x800.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/DSC_4543-800x533.jpg 800w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/DSC_4543-500x333.jpg 500w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/DSC_4543.jpg 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ingredients<\/p>\n<p>\u00bd cup butter<br \/>\n1\/3 cup water<br \/>\n1\/3 cup milk<br \/>\n2 cups tapioca flour<br \/>\n2 eggs, lightly beaten<br \/>\n1 teaspoon salt<br \/>\n\u00bd teaspoon garlic powder<br \/>\n\u00bd teaspoon dried parsley<br \/>\n2\/3 cup grated cheddar cheese<\/p>\n<p>Directions<\/p>\n<p>1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.<br \/>\n2. Grease or line a sheet tray with parchment paper. Set aside.<br \/>\n3. Going against all your biscuit training (namely cutting the butter into the flour at a temperature as cold as humanly possible) bring butter, water, milk and salt to a slow boil then remove from heat.<br \/>\n4. Mix in tapioca flour until a lumpy paste forms. Be sure not to over mix.<br \/>\n5. Let your dough rest for about 10 minutes.<br \/>\n6. Then stir in the eggs, garlic and parsley.<br \/>\n7. Fold in the cheese.<br \/>\n8. Scoop using an ice cream scoop or spoon, place biscuits evenly spaced on your sheet tray.<br \/>\n9. Bake for 15-20 minutes depending on the size of your scoops. Check and rotate your tray after 10 minutes.
