This year in London, I hosted my very first Thanksgiving and it was a SUCCESS! Everyone loved Thanksgiving, and I\u2019m hoping to make it an annual tradition here across the pond. I had my very own oven schedule, although it was quite short compared to the rest of the Garlic, My Soul crew! I was too busy to live blog, so here is my #laterblog<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/photo-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-12656\" alt=\"photo 1\" src=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/photo-1-800x800.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/photo-1-800x800.jpg 800w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/photo-1-500x500.jpg 500w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/photo-1-1200x1200.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/photo-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/photo-1.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">9 am: I began Thursday morning with the three pies. I know, dessert before dinner! Who does that? Bear with me\u2026 After pre-making the dough for the crusts Wednesday night, I prepped and baked two pumpkin pies and a pecan pie. Then they had the whole day to set (see, there is a method to my madness!)<\/p>\n<p>10 am: As my flat furniture is way to small to host a sit down dinner for 11 people, so I rented a 6 ft round table and chairs, which were delivered right on time!<\/p>\n<p>11 am: Next up were the sweet potatoes, individually wrapped in foil and oil. While they took up one shelf, the Tofurkey cooked on the second rack. Meanwhile, on the stovetop, four pots of water were boiling for the white potatoes.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"photo 2\" src=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/photo-2-800x800.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">1 pm: Cornbread was quickly whipped up and baked. Finally, the mac and cheese was made and baked, and dishes were done, all before\u2026<\/p>\n<p>3:30 pm: The turkey went in the oven! Jacinta made a lovely turkey crown that everyone said was quite delicious. Everyone said what they were thankful for, and ate until they were stuffed. There was barely room for pie, but somehow we managed!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Here was my London Thanksgiving menu:<br \/>\n<\/span>Turkey<br \/>\nTofurkey<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/thepioneerwoman.com\/cooking\/2007\/11\/delicious_creamy_mashed_potatoes\/\">Creamy Mashed Potatoes<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nigella.com\/recipes\/view\/sweet-potatoes-with-marshmallows\">Candied Yams<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jamieoliver.com\/recipes\/pasta-recipes\/a-killer-mac-n-cheese\">Mac and Cheese<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodnetwork.com\/recipes\/paula-deen\/moist-and-easy-cornbread-recipe\/index.html\">Cornbread<\/a><br \/>\nBrussels Sprouts and Kale<br \/>\nSausage Stuffing<br \/>\nMushroom Stuffing<br \/>\nRatatouille<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/beccas-famous-dressing\/\">Salad<\/a> (with my famous dressing of course!)<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/the-time-i-made-4-pies-in-2-weeks-and-loved-every-minute-of-it\/\">Pumpkin Pie<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/the-time-i-made-4-pies-in-2-weeks-and-loved-every-minute-of-it\/\"> Pecan Pie<\/a><br \/>\nEgg Nog<br \/>\nLots and lots of wine!<\/p>\n<p>My guests were particularly impressed\/weirded out by the candied yams. Everyone was really confused by the marshmallows on top, but I promised it was delicious and they loved it! Egg Nog was also difficult to explain, and it was a love it or hate it sort of thing here in London. Of course I made too much food, but days later, I\u2019m still eating the leftovers, even after sending home lots of doggie bags. I\u2019m thrilled to have been able to share Thanksgiving with my London friends, and to Skype with the GMS LA Thanksgiving!
