In honor of this most wonderful holiday, we made a truly American dessert &#8211; vanilla bundt cake with fresh berries!<\/p>\n<p>We used a recipe from <a href=\"http:\/\/lickthebowlgood.blogspot.com\/2011\/05\/very-vanilla-bundt-for-my-baby-brother.html\">Lick The Bowl Good<\/a>, and we&#8217;ve adapted it (below) for 1.5 the recipe, which is what you need for a 15-cup bundt pan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oven Temperature: <\/strong>325 degrees<strong><br \/>\nPrep Time: <\/strong>20 minutes<strong><br \/>\nCook Time: <\/strong>55 minutes (I promise)<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cake:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.5 teaspoon bourbon<br \/>\n\u00be teaspoon vanilla extract<br \/>\n1.5 vanilla bean, split lengthwise<br \/>\n2 1\/4 cups all purpose flour<br \/>\n3 teaspoons baking powder<br \/>\n1\/8 teaspoon salt<br \/>\n1 cup plus 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature<br \/>\n1 1\/8 cup sugar<br \/>\n3\/8 cup (packed) golden brown sugar<br \/>\n3 large eggs<br \/>\n1 large egg yolk<br \/>\n3\/4 cup buttermilk<\/p>\n<p><strong>Glaze:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.5 cup powdered sugar<br \/>\n3 teaspoons (or more) whole milk<br \/>\n1.5 teaspoon vanilla extract<br \/>\n.75 vanilla bean, split lengthwise<br \/>\nblueberries\/raspberries\/strawberries (optional)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/happy-fourth-bundt-cake\/dsc_0776\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11373\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Fourth of July Bundt Cake | Garlic, My Soul\" src=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/DSC_0776.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Position rack in center of oven and preheat to 325\u00b0F. Butter and flour a standard Bundt pan, then spray pan with nonstick spray. Pour bourbon and vanilla extract into small bowl. 2. Scrape seeds from vanilla bean into bourbon-vanilla mixture; stir to blend well (reserve scraped vanilla bean for another use). (If you don&#8217;t have or want to use bourbon, just substitute with vanilla extract).<br \/>\n3. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in medium bowl to blend.<br \/>\n4. Using electric mixer, beat butter and both sugars in large bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs and egg yolk 1 at a time, beating until well blended after each addition. Beat in bourbon-vanilla mixture.<br \/>\n5. Add flour mixture in 2 additions alternately with buttermilk in 1 addition, beating just until blended after each addition. Transfer batter to prepared pan; smooth top evenly (batter will come only halfway up sides of pan).<br \/>\n6. Bake cake until tester inserted near center comes out clean, about 55 minutes. Cool in pan on rack 15 minutes. Invert cake onto rack and cool completely.<br \/>\n7.
