And another common Irish connection? St. Patrick&#8217;s Day, of course! In honor of the upcoming holiday, I made the Irish Soda Bread my mom used to make for me as a kid.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=10099\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-10099\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10099\" alt=\"sodabread_003\" src=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/sodabread_003.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" srcset=\"https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/sodabread_003.jpg 800w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/sodabread_003-652x435.jpg 652w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/sodabread_003-449x300.jpg 449w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/sodabread_003-149x100.jpg 149w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This recipe is easy to put together, but you&#8217;d better use currants instead of raisins, if you can find them!<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<p>4.5 cups <strong>all-purpose flour<\/strong><br \/>\n2\/3 cup <strong>sugar<\/strong><br \/>\n1 tbsp <strong>baking powder<\/strong><br \/>\n1 tsp <strong>baking\u00a0soda<\/strong><br \/>\n1 tsp <strong>kosher salt<\/strong><br \/>\n1 1\/2 cup <strong>currants\/raisins<\/strong> (use currants if you can find \u2018em. Makes it that much better.)<br \/>\n2 <strong>eggs<\/strong>, beaten<br \/>\n2 cups <strong>buttermilk<\/strong> (or milk you&#8217;ve turned to buttermilk with vinegar!)<br \/>\n2 tbsp melted <strong>butter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=10101\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-10101\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10101\" alt=\"sodabread_005\" src=\"http:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/sodabread_005.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" srcset=\"https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/sodabread_005.jpg 800w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/sodabread_005-652x435.jpg 652w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/sodabread_005-449x300.jpg 449w, https:\/\/garlicmysoul.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/sodabread_005-149x100.jpg 149w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a>Put your dry ingredients together in a bowl &#8211; the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and your salt. Then, add your wet to your dry, until just incorporated.
